Cancer Prevention and Care Spectrum

The Cancer Prevention and Care Spectrum is charged with the responsibility of promoting public awareness about the causes, consequences, means of prevention and control of cancer. This will be achieved by implementing a comprehensive nation- wide education and information campaign in collaboration with the relevant departments, authorities and agencies at both national and county levels.

The awareness creation is to be carried out in schools and other institutions of learning, at all places of work and in all communities throughout the country with the involvement of all stakeholders including individuals and groups affected by cancer. The programme will also build the capacity of the health system on cancer prevention and control by ensuring training of healthcare providers on proper information dissemination and education on cancer prevention and treatment.

As the country’s lead institution for cancer prevention and control, NCI-Kenya advises the Cabinet Secretary for Health, on policy matters relating to the prevention, treatment and control of cancer. This is through a systematic analysis of all cancer prevention and control activities undertaken by various stakeholders to determine the gaps and make recommendations on the investment priorities for the country.
