Objectives and Purposes of The National Cancer Institute of Kenya

  • Promote public awareness about the causes, consequences, means of prevention and control of cancer
  • extend to every person with cancer full protection of his human rights and civil liberties by guaranteeing the right to privacy of the individual
  • outlawing discrimination in all its forms and subtleties
  • Oensuring the provision of basic health care and social services
  • promote utmost safety and universal precautions in practices and procedures that relate to the treatment of cancer
  • positively address and seek to eradicate conditions that cause and aggravate the spread of cancer
  • promote access to quality and affordable diagnostic and treatment services for persons with cancer
  • Ensure sustainable capacity for the prevention and control of cancer

As the country’s lead institution for cancer prevention and control, NCI-Kenya advises the Cabinet Secretary for Health, on policy matters relating to the prevention, treatment and control of cancer. This is through a systematic analysis of all cancer prevention and control activities undertaken by various stakeholders to determine the gaps and make recommendations on the investment priorities for the country.
